Genre: Action / 3rd Person Shooter

Pros: Some what fun mutliplayer, Neat ground effects

Cons: Boring singleplayer, Just ok graphics, Bad AI

Story:
Global warming and the search for methods to combat its effects have split the United States, and the world, in two. In the east, is the Atlantic Alliance, a staunch supporter and leading innovator of cybernetic solutions to the world’s problems. Their adversary is the Republic of Pacifica and their Pacific Rim allies in the west. They advocate adapting the human genome to cope with the changing world. Both factions are armed with a new type of tectonic technology that allows armies to raise and lower defenses out of the earth at any location of their choosing.

About:
Fracture is a 3rd person shooter that uses this gun called the Entrencher. This gun allows you to transform the ground, raise, lower and blow up.

Rambling:
This is a game that I saw about a year ago and it just looked so awesome, and I couldn’t wait to try it. Well, that couldn’t wait to try it has changed…

Gameplay:
Singleplayer
From the first level you know the game is not going to be good. Going through the singleplayer was not fun and really boring. Your guy runs to slow, you don’t get the responses you want when shooting guns, the enemies take way to many bullets to die, not good level design.

There is one really good part to this game, and it’s the Entrencher, this gun has the ability to raise and lower terrain, and it works really well. I hope in the future we will see the Entrencher again in some other, much better game.

Nothing special about the AI all they do is run at you and shoot, there was one time were one took cover, but his back was towards me so it didn’t do him to much good.

Multiplayer
The multiplayer is definitely better then the singleplayer, but is it good enough for you to go out and spend your money on? No.

There are 8 different maps for you to play on, most of them looked pretty neat and had good layouts. Standard gametypes (capture the flag, free for all, team ffa and king of the hill.)

While playing online I only found a few games, not that many people playing this, the few games I did find though none of them lagged and they ran really well.

Controls
Running, jumping, shooting, and using your ground move all works when you hit the button. The button layout is good. (RB: Raise ground, LB: Lower ground, Y: Sprint.) After that the normal control scheme for shooters. (A: Jump, B: Punch, R: Shoot.)

Graphics:
Singleplayer
The graphics don’t really look that good, a few of the first levels had a blur effect added on to them that made them look even worse then they do, but for the most part there not that good.

There are some neat effects like when lowering or raising the ground, or blowing the ground up, but if it doesn’t have anything to do with the ground, there’s nothing awesome here.

The guy you play as looks the same as every one else (bad or good) the only thing that is different is the color you have on.

Multiplayer
The graphics for multiplayer do seem to be a little bit better then the singleplayer. But they still don’t look great.

And once again, the guy you play as looks just like everyone else, from what I found there was no customizing.

Sound:
Nothing special., some of the sounds kind of sound like they took from other games.

In the end:
Very bad singleplayer and a not great multiplayer make this one a pass.

2/5 – Pass It

(Note: There is a singleplayer demo on PSN and XBL, but I recommend skipping it.)
