It has been quite a while since we had a solid NASCAR game. I am thinking back to the PC releases from the early 2000s. It seems that Activision and developer Eutechnyx agreed with me on this and announced a new NASCAR licensed game called 'NASCAR The Game 2011'. I think the title could have been improved upon but Activision claims that the actual game will be good.

NASCAR The Game 2011 has been built from the ground up to make a thoroughly new experience. The team started by speaking with the people who know NASCAR best - the fans - and took that insight to the teams, drivers and officials to completely embrace what makes NASCAR America's #1 motorsport.

Players will be able to create their own driver or choose from the officially licensed drivers whose AI will act as their real life counterparts on the tracks. Activision and Eutechnyx stated that they have been working with fans and NASCAR to ensure authenticity.

The game will also include a 16 player online mode allowing you to trade paint with other players on the '22 real world tracks' and utlizing pit stop strategies.

NASCAR The Game 2011 is slated for a February 2011 release on Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii. Just in time for the start of the season in Daytona.
