A new piece of hardware always gets ridiculed and broken apart in order to see what the ‘bits’ are within the new machine. The Nintendo 3DS is set to release this Sunday and UBM TechInsights has done exactly that. According to this report posted by Eurogamer, the 3DS components cost just over 100 bucks.

While the bits and pieces of the 3DS are valued at 101 Dollars there are other things to consider before screaming ‘RIP OFF’ and other offensive tag lines. Every device ever to be developed costs much more than its parts. There is Research and Development, production, marketing and distribution.

While this will bring up the cost, Nintendo surely priced the 3DS to make a profit on day one. The device will retail at 250 Dollars.
