After being one of the most popular shooters of the last three console generations, EA has announced that they will not continue making Medal of Honor games. EA made the announcement today during their third quarter financial call, citing poor sales and critical responses for Medal of Honor: Warfighter as the reason to stop producing the series.
EA COO Peter Moore said that while Warfighter was a good game and didn’t deserve the low scores it received, “the focus on combat authenticity did not resonate with consumers.”
Medal of Honor first appeared on the original PlayStation and became an instant hit. During the next three console cycles a total of fifteen additional Medal of Honor games were released, selling millions of copies worldwide.
