Rockstar showed some new screenshots of Grand Theft Auto V recently, and it was marine life that was the focus, not the sprawling city of Los Santos. Featured in the new screenshots is a shark, and what looks to be a small submarine for exploration.
While San Andreas featured some marine life, the player could never interact with any of animals seen when CJ would dive under the surface. With the amount of coverage Rockstar has given to the submarine and marine life, it is pretty safe to assume that players will be spending some time underwater in GTA V.
The addition of the submarine piques my interest more than sharks or fish. The submarine opens up what could be a huge addition to the Grand Theft Auto series. Imagine being able to traverse the ocean floor, looking for treasures and Easter eggs. It also opens up new gameplay mechanics, like using the water as cover to sneak up on foes, or escape the police. If executed properly, we could see another influential addition to Grand Theft Auto.
