Crystal Dynamics has announced a deal with Dark Horse Comics to produce multiple comic books based on the Tomb Raider series. The first comic, titled “Tomb Raider: The Beginning,” will be a prequel to the events of the newest Lara Croft game. “Tomb Raider: The Beginning” is a 48-page, six-part hardcover omnibus that will explain how the crew came together to search for the lost Japanese kingdom of Yamatai.
Lead game writer for Tomb Raider, Rhianna Pratchett said that she wanted to be able to expand the back story of the other characters and that “it was great to be able to flesh out the world of Tomb Raider and work with the talented team at Dark Horse to bring Lara Croft back to comics.”
The full comic will be available to customers who pre-order the newest Tomb Raider game at Best Buy. The Tomb Raider reboot is scheduled to be released March 5th.
