Every Friday we’ll post Weekend Gaming, which will be a summary of some of the new releases you should be paying attention to, along with games that we plan on playing this weekend.

New Releases

System Shock 2 (PC) – The classic first person RPG adventure game from Irrational Games is now available on GOG.com. While it isn’t exactly new, it is now available through a digital distributor. With it being on GOG.com, the game will be optimized for current systems even though it came out 14 years ago. Plus there is some additional content in the download, including an IGN interview with Ken Levine from 1999.

Aliens: Colonial Marines (Xbox 360, PS3, PC) – When we say new releases you should be paying attention to, it doesn’t necessarily mean you should go out and buy it, but just be aware that this new first person shooter is available. Aliens: Colonial Marines fits into this category. It was released on Tuesday to low scores, and some controversy surrounding who actually developed parts of the game. Some reports suggest that Gearbox did not develop all parts of the single player. If you are a fan of the Alien movies, then I suggest that you approach this game with extreme caution.

The Witcher 2 – The more I get into this game, the more I am really enjoying it. In my experience, The Witcher 2 started off extremely challenging. I had to repeat that first fight about six times. But once you get used to the combat system, it is a much more enjoyable game. I am only a few hours into the game, so I can’t wait to see how it opens up.

Kerbal Space Program – With Squad releasing version 0.18.4 yesterday, I want to see how the game can take advantage of the Unity 4 engine. Plus it has been a while since I’ve played it, and I need to destroy my space station I have orbiting Minmus so I can put a new one up there.

Brütal Legend – If you pre-ordered the game on Steam, like I did, than you have early access to the multiplayer beta before the full game is released on February 26th. I always wanted to play Brütal Legend in the past, but it was right around the time I started playing more games on my computer than my Xbox. Now with a PC port arriving later this month, I am über excited to try it out. It has a lot of thinks that I enjoy: Jack Black, metal music, and that Tim Schafer toüch. I added that last umlaut because I didn’t feel like there were enough in this blurb.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengence – We have received our review copy for the new Metal Gear and I will be putting Raiden and his epic sword through their respective paces. The game is developed by Platinum Games and published by Konami. You will know next week if we did or didn’t like this very different entry into the Metal Gear Saga.

Dead Space 3 – I haven’t played Dead Space 3 yet but really loved the first 2 games in the series. With Isaac heading to a dangerous and necromorph infested planet, I am sure to be careful when making my way through the game.

FIFA ’13 – If you know me, you know I love my soccer – I am still playing with my ‘Pro’ and finally got my stats to a respectable level and was accepted by the club. I was quite tired of being loaned out every year. FIFA 13 continues to impress me and is a highly quality game for any soccer fan.
