The Astronauts, an indie development team comprised of veterans from People Can Fly, have announced The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is “inspired by weird fiction stories and other tales of macabre of the early 20th century,” according to the press release. It is a PC only game, set to release in 2013.
You play as a detective who has the ability to visualize what has happened at crime scenes. Using these powers and modern detective tools, you try to help find a young boy who has been kidnapped. The game takes you to a mountainous area where you find a mutilated body of one of the kidnappers. Along the way you discover how that body was mutilated, the ancient force that rules the area, and the ultimate fate of the kidnapped boy.
