Every Friday we’ll post Weekend Gaming, which will be a summary of some of the new releases you should be paying attention to, along with games that we plan on playing this weekend.

New Releases

Brütal Legend (PC) – Although it was originally released in 2009 for the Xbox 360 and PS3, Brütal Legend finally makes its way to the personal computer. Jack Black voices the lead character Eddie Riggs, who is a roadie for a modern day “metal” band before being knocked out and taken to a fantasy world. This isn’t your normal fantasy world though; it is influenced by heavy metal music. Featuring appearances from Lemmy Kilmister, Rob Halford, and Ozzy Osbourne, this is a must have for anyone who is a fan of metal music and video games.

Persona 2: Eternal Punishment (PSN, PS Vita) – The second in the Persona 2 world, and the third game in the overall Persona series is headed to the PlayStation Network and the PlayStation Vita. The original game was released in 2000, so those wanting to jump back into Persona 2 now have the ability to do so on your PS3.

Brütal Legend – When the game was first released, I had switched from gaming on my Xbox 360 to PC. I was caught up in the wonders of Steam and games I had never had the chance to play, so Brütal Legend was a game that was pushed to the side for things like Day of Defeat. Since then Brütal Legend became something that I had long forgotten about, until this latest PC version was released. I’m still early in the game, but I really like it so far. Look for a write up about the game sometime next week.

FIFA ’13 – While the football season (the sport played with your feet, not gridiron football) has been going on for a while in the rest of the world, the American league MLS begins on Saturday. My favorite club, Sporting KC, is up against Philadelphia. I imagine before the match I’ll play some FIFA ’13 so I can destory Philly in digital form before KC does it in real life.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown – XCOM is one of those games that you play after it has been out for a while and you think “why has it taken this long to start this game?” I am really enjoying my time with XCOM so far, but it is a hard game. I’ve had multiple missions where my entire team gets taken out. You can tell it is a game designed for multiple playthroughs, which is excellent.

The Bridge – This weekend, I will be playing ‘The Bridge’ which is a PAX 10 Indie Game that is centered around some abstract and gravity manipulating gameplay design that only an indie game can deliver. On top of that it has some very unique visual and art design that I am looking forward to immerse myself in.

FIFA 13 -After being transferred to Manchester United and my Pro not being very amused, I transferred to Juventus for half a season before finally settling at Bayern Munich. FIFA 13 continues to deliver some incredibly addicting and immersing gameplay on the Career and multiplayer side as well as Ultimate Team.
