Every Friday we’ll post Weekend Gaming, which will be a summary of some of the new releases you should be paying attention to, along with games that we plan on playing this weekend.

New Releases

StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm (PC) – The expansion to the popular PC game Starcraft II is finally out, and people have been going crazy for it.You are Sarah Kerrigan, trying to maintain and expand her control over the recently split Zerg Swarm. If you are a fan of StarCraft II, this is a must have.

God of War: Ascension (PS3) – Kratos is back in this prequel to the God of War franchise. The game has been getting decent reviews, but the main consensus is that it retains the popular God of War formula: brutal combat and larger-than-life set pieces.

Ridiculous Fishing (iOS) – Described as a fishing game out for redemption, Ridiculous Fishing is one of those iOS games that will be insanely popular. You cast a lure, and avoid fish to get as deep as possible, and when you reach the end of your range, you hook fish on your way back to the boat. With the ability to buy addons for your equipment, plus a few surprises, Ridiculous Fishing is a very enjoyable iOS game.

Brandon’s Weekend Gaming

SimCity – The servers have been working well, so I want to continue to get a good impression of SimCity. I just founded my second town, and am trying a different layout for the streets. I just wish they would turn on the ability to invite friends to a city. Andreas and I want to work on a region together!

Lone Survivor – After hearing about the game coming to PSN, I thought I would check it out for the PC. I don’t do well with horror games, and the first 20 minutes of the game had me freaked out. But I want to play more of it. It has a very interesting concept to it that I would enjoy. I’ll just play this one during the day time.

SimCity – The EA servers are finally up and running enough for us to play the game and get the actual experience of Maxis’ SimCity game that was 5 years in the making. I am not sure if everything is quite working as designed but I put more than 60 hours into the game already. Good or bad, the game is addicting as hell.

Tomb Raider – I finally got my hands on a copy of Tomb Raider and am ready to explore Lara’s journey and transformation into what we know and love. This prequel is a beautiful looking game and plays well from what I have already gone through. Of course I have only touched the tip of the ice berg but it seems to be the game that everyone wanted to play.
