Every Friday we’ll post Weekend Gaming, which will be a summary of some of the new releases you should be paying attention to, along with games that we plan on playing this weekend.

New Releases

Injustice: Gods Among Us (Xbox 360, PS3, WiiU) – The much anticipated DC Comics themed fighting game has been released, and is receiving great reviews. The game is developed by NetherRealms Studios, the team behind the Mortal Kombat games. It features a hefty list of super heroes and villains from the DC universe, which is always fun to pit two superheroes together. All I will say is Batman should be invincible in this game.

Sacred Citadel (XBLA, PSN, PC) – This side-scrolling beat ’em up was just released on digital platforms. You play as one of four characters, trying to chase down an evil sorcerer who has stolen a sacred crystal. The game features three player co-op, a leveling up system, weapons and loot you can pick up in battle, and some really great combat.

Lords of Football – To imagine what Lords of Football is like, take Football Manager and mix it with The Sims. It is a very interesting concept that seems to have been put together well. You play as the manager of a football club, and you have to keep your players in check while they train, and while they go out on the town after training. Footballers can get addicted to many different things, and it will damage your club. It is a really interesting game, and you can expect a review later this weekend.

Sacred Citadel – The last side-scrolling brawler I played was the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles re-release on XBLA, and I forgot how much I enjoy games like this. The art style of Sacred Citadel is fantastic, the combat feels very smooth, and the enemies and areas are varied enough to keep the game interesting. The game has been a big surprise to me.

Dead Island Riptide – I can’t talk much about the game since it is embargoed but hey, I am playing it. That’s something I CAN say 🙂

Sacred Citadel – I am playing the side scrolling brawler set in the Sacred universe – it has been a while since I have been into a good brawler but I am looking forward to getting my hands dirty!

Dishonored – Knife of Dunwall DLC – Dishonored was one of my favorite games of the last year and I am excited to dig into the story driven DLC for Bethesda’s stealth action RPG.

Defiance – I have been very intrigued about Defiance, the game developed by Trion Worlds in conjuncture with the SyFy. My hope is that the episodes on TV are working well with the fiction in the game.
