Every Friday we’ll post Weekend Gaming, which will be a summary of some of the new releases you should be paying attention to, along with games that we plan on playing this weekend.

New Releases

BattleBlock Theater (XBLA) – BattleBlock Theater is the latest game from The Behemoth, the indie dev team behind Alien Hominid and Castle Crashers. The game is a side scrolling platformer, and the campaign can be played single-player or cooperatively. In addition to the campaign, the game features a pretty intuitive level creator. To top it off, the game is extremely humorous. Sounds like a win-win in our books.

Evoland (PC) – In Evoland, you play through the history of RPG adventure games. You start with simple movement, and as you progress, you unlock new game mechanics. There are chests laid out around the world. In these chests are not items, but it could be 16-bit graphics, or sound, or even all the way up to 3D graphics and a health bar. It a wonderful game, and for the low price tag, it is a must have for anyone who has played an adventure game ranging from The Legend of Zelda to Final Fantasy.

Evoland – After playing it for a few hours last night, I am thoroughly impressed with Evoland. It could be viewed as just a novelty game, but there is a story behind it. One thing that is great about the game is that as you unlock more features, it improves the gameplay experience immensely. It goes to show how much progress has been made with game development over the years.

Hitman: Absolution – This is another game that I am late to playing. I am a huge fan of the Hitman series, but when I heard about some gameplay changes to Absolution, I decided to wait a bit to play it. After getting through the first few levels, I have to say that I like it. It is different than other Hitman games, and feels a bit more like a stealth action game. But I can see parts of the game that could be brilliant. I just wish disguises were more powerful.

BioShock Infinite – I am about half-way through this magnificent game and our review IS coming, I know you are dying to read it. BioShock Infinite has me diving deep into every nook and cranny of a wonderful and yet bizarre world filled with great characters.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 – What can I say? I will snipe people.

The Walking Dead: Survival Insinct – This weekend I will dive into a zombie filled apocalypse set in the AMC Walking Dead in ‘Survival Instinct’ from Activision and Terminal Reality. Playing as Darryl from the TV show is an appealing proposition to me.
