E3 2013: Mad Max from Avalanche Studios is an Original Story

Posted by: 6/11/2013

Today Avalanche Studios has revealed some juicy details about Mad Max, its open world game that was just announced at E3 2013. Not only is the game real and will be coming to PS4 (and likely Xbox One) but it will also feature an original story and the classic antihero we know and love called Max – also known as Mad Max.

Mad Max is of course based on the epic 1979 Mel Gibson film set in a hopeless wasteland where a former cop is out for revenge of his murdered family. The game was most recently rumored to be in development in 2010 at Avalanche Studios as a Mad Max 4: ‘Fury Road‘ movie tie in – this turns out to be true apart from it not being a movie based game, but it will take place in the rich universe of course.

All of this is good news for all of us. Mad Max is an incredible world to set a game in as it for open world wasteland gameplay that will of course include a lot of driving as well as customization of the vehicles in the world.

Today Avalanche also noted that Mad Max will feature true physics based car combat and a lot of open world objective missions as well as establishing Max as a character who’s only flaw is the little bits of humanity left in him.

Some of the media members at E3 2013 were given some hands on time and also a hands off demo today which we will surely here more about. So far we are excited to see a Mad Max game finally coming to fruition – especially on this blistering hot new tech as Avalanche’s game will be available on PS4 and Xbox One sometime in the future, presumably around the movie release next year.

Just don’t mess it up!
