Hideo Kojima was quoted saying that he is looking for a studio outside of Konami and Kojima Productions to remake the original Metal Gear Solid in the brand new FOX Engine. While fans of the series got excited at the possibility of the original game gracing HD consoles, unfortunately it doesn’t look like we’ll see this remake anytime soon.
Kojima took to Twitter last night to clear up any confusion that may have come out of his interview. What Kojima really said was that the journalist interviewing Kojima had requested MGS2 to be remade on the FOX engine, which Kojima said he cannot do. He then continued by saying “I wish if only someone could remake MGS1 on Fox Engine.”
This quote led people to believe that Kojima was actively seeking a developer to remake MGS1, which is false. You can read the tweets that Kojima sent out below. The person named Chris that is mentioned in the tweets is Kojima’s translator.
Regarding the rumor from yesterday, checked the data recording of the actual interview. It was mistranslated from our side.

I answered "You (the journalist) wanted me to do MGS2 on Fox Engine but I cannot do. I wish if only someone could make MGS1 on Fox Engine."

The new FOX Engine will be used for the upcoming game Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, which is set to release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 in the near future.
