It is Friday, and there is no better way to spend the weekend than playing a new release, or continuing a game that you’ve been playing for a while. Either way, it is time for Weekend Gaming.

New Releases

Shadowrun Returns (PC, Mac) – What happens when you mix a cyperpunk-like world with magic? The result is Shadowrun Returns. This is a Kickstarter game that was released on PC this week. It is a RPG with XCOM style combat featuring guns, and magic. Paired with an awesome art style makes Shadowrun Returns a must have for any RPG fan.

Max Payne 3 – Now that my review desk is empty, it is time to try out some games that I missed when they were first released. Max Payne 3 is one of those games. I’ve played a little of it, and it is pretty good so far. While it is pretty standard in terms of shooting (other than bullet time), I have to say the setting and attention to detail is phenomenal.

Alan Wake – I always wanted to play this game, but I kept forgetting about it as new games were released. I was reminded about Alan Wake when I saw it for $4 during the Steam summer sale, and immediately purchased.

Batman: Arkham City – I purchased the game of the year edition during the summer sale since I hadn’t played the DLC yet. After beating Harley Quinn’s Revenge, I decided to start a new game because I love the opening sequence in Arkham City. This led to me falling in love with this game again. It is so good.

Man, this summer low is really getting to me, I am still playing GRID 2 but also have to finish The Last of Us. I really don’t know what games to play and am getting flustered by the quickly approaching fall which means new consoles and plenty of games.

To be honest, I have been watching a lot of Netflix and Crackle programming lately instead of gaming but this weekend I will get back into some of those games and work on the pile of shame – maybe finish that Alan Wake?!
