DRIVECLUB gets officially delayed to ‘early 2014’ by Sony

The rumors were spreading fast over the past few days about DRIVECLUB’s delay. The racing game was supposed to be one of the major launch titles, and even a free PSN Plus game, for the PlayStation 4 at the November 15th launch.

However, the game has now officially delayed by Sony via a blog post by President of worldwide studios of Sony Entertainment Shuhei Yoshida.

SCE Worldwide Studios and the team at Evolution Studios have made the difficult decision to delay the release of DRIVECLUB and DRIVECLUB PlayStation Plus Edition until early 2014. DRIVECLUB will be a truly innovative, socially connected racing game, but the team requires more time in order to deliver on their vision — and I’m fully confident the game will surpass your expectations.

Yoshida did note that Contrast will be replacing DRIVECLUB on the free PSN Plus offering which is quite a good move as the game looks stunning. Lastly, when DRIVECLUB hits eventually in ‘early 2014 it will still receive the free PSN Plus version as initially promised.

DRIVECLUB’s delay is the second big blow to the Sony PlayStation 4 launch.
