Watch Dogs delayed until Spring 2014, here is why

Today Ubisoft announced that it delayed open world title Watch Dogs to Spring 2014, which will have plenty of fans upset and wondering why the game was delayed so close to its planned release in November.

“Our ambition from the start with Watch Dogs has been to deliver something that embodies what we wanted to see in the next-generation of gaming. It is with this in mind that we’ve made the tough decision to delay the release until spring 2014.”

Ubisoft needed more time to make the game the experience the developer wanted it to be – a true next generation gaming experience without compromise.

“We know a lot of you are probably wondering: Why now?” Ubisoft added in its statement on the UbiBlog.

“We struggled with whether we would delay the game. But from the beginning, we have adopted the attitude that we will not compromise on quality. As we got closer to release, as all the pieces of the puzzle were falling into place in our last push before completion, it became clear to us that we needed to take the extra time to polish and fine tune each detail so we can deliver a truly memorable and exceptional experience.”

Well, this seems like an honest of an answer we could expect and in all honesty, it is probably good for the game, the franchise and Ubisoft’s brand as competing open world games like Grand Theft Auto V or fellow Ubi game Assassin’s Creed IV would likely steel some of its thunder anyway.

We will wait.
