Next-Gen meets Metacritic: The Reviews

Posted by: 11/20/2013

The Xbox One will be releasing this Friday on November 22nd and is following the PlayStation 4 which launched last Friday on November 15th. While we don’t have all the reviews up for these games, most of the games press has gotten a look at them and this allows Metacritic to build a pretty good average score for each title.

Below we have summarized all of the major Xbox One and PS4 console exclusives as well multiplatform games that are available at launch on Sony and Microsoft’s systems.

While both of the Xbox One and PS4 have a standout title according to the scores calculated by Metacritic in the form of Forza 5 which stands at a good 82 out of 100 and Resogun which comes in at an 83, there are some serious disappointments like Knack and Crimson Dragon.

The same goes for multiplatform games. While titles like Battlefield 4 (87) and NBA 2K 14 (85) rank high on the aggregators’  scale, we have the sad return of NBA LIVE 14 bring up  the rear with a 48 Meta Score.

Xbox One Reviews:

  1. Forza Motorsport 5 – 82 Meta Score
  2. Dead Rising 3 – 78 Meta Score
  3. Crimson Dragon – 55 Meta Score
  4. Ryse: Son of  Rome – TBD Meta Score

PlayStation 4 Reviews:

  1. Resogun – 83 Meta Score

  3. Knack – 56 Meta Score

  5. Call of Duty Ghosts – 78 Meta Score
  6. Madden 25 – 78 Meta Score

I was going to include the excellent FIFA 14 but it did not get updated on Metacritic for PS4 and Xbox One but current generation consoles have it scored at 86.
