It is Friday, and there is no better way to spend the weekend than playing a new release, or continuing a game that you’ve been playing for a while. Either way, it is time for Weekend Gaming.

New Releases

PlayStation 4 – The next generation of video games has arrived with the PlayStation 4. It was launched today in the United States, and gamers are excited to get their hands on a new console. With launch games like Killzone: Shadow FallBattlefield 4Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, and Resogun, there are plenty of games available that show off the fidelity of the new consoles. I can’t wait to see how games look in just a couple of years.

Little Big Planet Karting – I’m a sucker for Mario Kart, so when I saw Little Big Planet Karting for free through PlayStation Plus, I immediately downloaded it. While the game is weaker in some parts than Mario Kart, it is still a great addition to the karting genre.

XCOM: Enemy Within – One of the best games of 2012 received a new, substantial update. XCOM: Enemy Within adds new enemies, new technology for you to research, and the ability to turn your soldiers into mechs. I’ll have my full review next week.

PS4 to the Max

Today it’s finally time. Time for greatness that awaits as Sony likes to say. After a long wait the box is finally here. New games, new features and more power. I’m excited to play Assassin’s Creed VI, FIFA 14, Resogun, Contrast and others on the Sony PlayStation 4.

I don’t remember when exactly I got so excited for this new generation but boy am I ripe. Like an overdue banana I will peel the plastic of the PS4 and set it up under my TV and next to my trusted PS3 which remains relevant for a few more months.

Are you ready for the next generaton?
