Game announcements on a Saturday are kind of weird, but when it is for another Civilization game, then it doesn’t matter when it is announced.
Firaxis has announced that the next Civilization game is called Civilization: Beyond Earth, and will release this fall. You could maybe guess by the name, but Beyond Earth allows the players to colonize other planets after having to leave Earth. If you are thinking this is an spiritual successor to Alpha Centauri, then you would be correct. EA still holds the Alpha Centauri license, so Firaxis has to use the Civilization name, but we all know what is going on.
