MS ‘ships’ over 5 MM Xbox Ones, Sony ‘sells’ over 7 MM PS4s

The March NPDs were highly anticipated given that Sony had been outselling Xbox One since launch and Titanfall was assumed to tip that at least for March. While Titanfall was the best selling game in March and helped the Xbox One to push 311,000 units, the PS4 once again outsold the Xbox One with the PS4.

Sony has now sold over 7 Million PS4 units to consumers while Microsoft has shipped over 5 Million Xbox One’s to stores – both are worldwide figures. The difference of course is that units shipped to stores is less than actually sold to consumers.

In any event, both the Xbox One and PS4 have sold 60% more than its PS3 and Xbox 360 counterparts in the first five months of their launch window which is a massive win for the hardware makers.

Below you can see the NPD rankingsĀ for March – yes Titanfall beat Infamous but it did take second place. Notable also that Southpark comes in at 3rd place.

  2. inFAMOUS Second Son (PS4)
