It is Friday, and there is no better way to spend the weekend than playing a new release, or continuing a game that you’ve been playing for a while. Either way, it is time for Weekend Gaming.

New Releases

Apotheon (PS4, PC) – This stylized Metroidvania style game has been the talk of PAX for the last few years, and it is now available. You control Nikandreos, a mortal that must climb Mount Olympus to defeat Zeus and save humanity. Oh, and the art style is amazing.

This weekend is all about finishing Life is Strange Episode 1 and playing some Dying Light coop as we are getting ready for our review. Life is Strange is a great narrative driven episodic game from Dontnod which made Remember Me, a game I also loved on many levels even if combat wasn’t great. Dying Light is considered a Dead Island 2.0 mixed with Mirror’s Edge and is well regarded by fans and press – I am ready to roam a city filled with zombies.

After getting a taste of Apotheon, I can’t wait to continue in that game. I love the idea of having to climb Mount Olympus to take out Zeus. I’ll also be running around Haran, taking out zombies in Dying Light. Actually like what would happen in a real zombie apocalypse, I prefer to run past the zombies than take them head on.
