Insomniac Games is mostly known for its creative Ratchet and Clank series as well as the gritty, alternate universe shooter Resistance, both of franchises were exclusive to the PlayStation platform. With its latest game and new IP FUSE the developer has brought its signature gameplay to the Xbox 360 for the first time under publisher EA – of course the game is also available on the PlayStation 3.
FUSE is a four player coop experience at its heart that is coupled with fun gunplay and great weapon variety as we have become used to from an Insomniac game. The game is centered around the four capable soldiers Dalton, Izzy, Jacob, and Naya, who are part of the CIA group called ‘Overstrike 9’, each of whom have special abilities ranging from shield technology to the arcshot sniper rifle or the warp rifle.
The weapons are powered by an alien substance called Fuse which, when combined with terran metals, becomes a lethal and incredibly dangerous weapon. Of course where there is Fuse, there is someone who wants to use the tech to its advantage and evil means – this enemy is called Raven, a rogue paramilitary group which is up to no good – naturally.
In FUSE players will be able to fight Raven in a team of four along with your best friends or go solo and switch from character to character with the push of a button. This will allow players to try out all of the cool Fuse weaponry from Dalton Brooks’ Xenotech Magshield to Naya Deveraux’s Xenotech Warp Rifle. The Xenotech weapons are some of the coolest gun Insomniac has come up with so far.
