Xi3 Corporation has opened up pre-orders for the new Piston computer. The Piston is a Valve-back, but unofficial Steambox. UPDATE: It has been confirmed that Valve doe snot back the Piston. Valve had contacted Xi3 in the past, but they have no official dealings with the company anymore. The compact gaming PC will ship this holiday season, and will retail at a starting price of $1000. For those that pre-order the new console during the South by Southwest festival, they will receive $100 off.
The Piston features an AMD A10 quard-core PC, with a clock speed of 3.2 GHz. It will also feature 8GB of RAM, and a 128GB solid state drive. The option to upgrade the solid state drive to a 256GB and 512GB solid state drive is available. The Piston will have a Linux based OS.
