Every Friday we’ll post Weekend Gaming, which will be a summary of some of the new releases you should be paying attention to, along with games that we plan on playing this weekend.

New Releases

Yeah, so there were not any new games released this week that really caught our eye here at onPause, unless you want a heavy dose of nostalgia. If that is the case, then I suggest you check out Age of Empires II: HD Edition. For the rest of us, how about we just watch the Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon trailer again because it is awesome.

Brandon’s Weekend Gaming

Kerbal Space Program – I am addicted to this game. The other day I found myself messing with the new rover parts, trying to put a rover on the moon. I also hit another milestone in the game: landing on another celestial body by using the IVA view. It was through the eyes of the pilot with very little information about your speed and height. The feeling of accomplishment is second to none in gaming right now.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown – I really messed up my first save of XCOM. Instead of spending money researching new weapons, armor, launching satellites, ordering fighter jets, etc., I saved my money like an idiot. I learned my lesson though, and am attempting a second playthrough. XCOM is almost a rogue-like game. Almost.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted – Criterion has made one hell of a racing game. I’ve only played for a few hours, but those were some really enjoyable few hours. The sense of speed is excellent, the racing is a little challenging, and the cops chasing you makes it all very intense. While playing Need for Speed, there is only one thought going through my head. “Please make another Burnout game.”

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 – I continue to play this game and shoot many, many faceless foes in their dome-piece. I enjoy the gameplay even though some repetition is sinking in, I think basing a whole game on sniping would be a challenge for even the best developers.

The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct – I am finally getting to Darryl and Merle’s crazy adventure as I will be playing as our favorite cross bow wielding redneck from the TV show. The game received some rather negative critical reviews but I love the fiction and that surely will weigh into my verdict.
