Games, partnership announced on Nintendo Direct

Nintendo released another Nintendo Direct video this morning to announce a few game release dates, as well as show off new games. Headlining the video is Sonic Lost World. This new action platforming game will be released on June 11 exclusively for Wii U and 3DS. Also announced was Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winder Games, which is in the running for longest video game title ever.

Nintendo also revealed that they have struck a partnership with Best Buy. Demos from games shown off at E3 next month will be playable at select Best Buys throughout the United States and Canada during the week of E3.

New Super Luigi U will now be sold as a standalone disc in addition to it being sold as DLC for New Super Mario Bros. U. The DLC will be available on June 20, and the standalone disc version will be in stores on August 25. They also announced that Nabbit from New Super Mario Bros. U will be a playable character in the expansion. Nabbit does not take damage from enemies, nor can he use power ups. He just runs through the levels.

The Wonderful 101, a mass-action adventure game from Platinum Games is coming out on September 15 for the Wii U, but no footage was shown. Nintendo said there will be more details after E3. Game & Wario was announced, which is a collection of mini games for the Wii U. It will be released on the eShop on June 23. Also announced was Pikmin 3 will be released on August 4, and Resident Evil Revelations will be coming to the Wii U on May 21.

On the 3DS end of things, Nintendo announced that their partnership with SEGA extends to their mobile platform. Classic games from the SEGA Game Gear will be making their way to the 3DS. Animal Crossing: New Leaf will be releasing on June 9. Leading up to the release Nintendo’s Treehouse localization team will be hosting a video series to discuss the franchise and new features in New Leaf. These videos can be found on Nintendo’s YouTube page.

Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D will be released in stores and on eShop on May 24, and will feature some extra content not featured in the original Wii game. It was also announced that The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons will be coming to the Virtual Console for 3DS on May 30. For the first three weeks after launch, the games will be on sale for $4.99 before settling to their normal price of $5.99.

That was Nintendo’s pre-E3 Nintendo Direct. There will be another one around the time of E3 in just a few weeks!
