American McGee latest to take to Kickstarter

Posted by: 6/24/2013

Game developers are using Kickstarter more than ever to acquire funds to finish their projects, and American McGee is the latest to use the crowd funding service.

The popular developer known for American McGee’s Alice and Alice: Madness Returns has announced his newest game, OZombie. The game is set in L. Frank Baum’s Wizard of Oz universe. The main character is Dorthy’s great-great-granddaughter, and she joins up with Tin Woodsman and Lion to battle Scarecrows mindless army for control of Oz.

It is being described as mainly a single-player game, and will “feature a variety of perspectives and game modes with an emphasis on role-playing, tactical combat, exploration and story telling.”

To receive the full single-player campaign, users only need to pay $15, but like any Kickstarter, there are incentives for pledging more money. Check out the Kickstarter here. The game is being developed for PC, Mac, Linux, and second-gen tablets. Below you can see the first assets from the game.
