Microsoft will now allow self-publishing on Xbox One

Microsoft’s policies for Xbox One continue to change. When the console was first announced, indie games would have to either pair up with a third party publisher, or sign a deal with Microsoft to get their game published on Xbox Live. This policy has been removed, and developers will now be able to self-publish on Xbox One.

Marc Whitten, Microsoft’s VP of Xbox, told Engadget that each Xbox One can be used to develop games. More information will be released on this feature at Gamescom in August. But indie developers should be happy that self-publishing will be allowed on Xbox One now.
