E3 2018: PlayStation Showcase – The Rest of the Trailers

Posted by: 6/12/2018

Around and between the 4 games Sony decided to focus on for their press conference, they showed a bunch of trailers to hype or reveal upcoming games and content. Not a ton was said about any of these in particular, so in no particular order here is a stack of trailers and a small blurb if necessary. Enjoy! I certainly did.

Before we get too far, I thought it worth mentioning that Shawn Layden, President and CEO of Sony Interactive, did confirm during the conference intermission that a new-game-plus mode is currently being worked on for God of War, a mode fans have been asking for since shortly after its release.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 gets put on PlayStation Plus starting tonight. Coinciding with the announcement, fans who order upcoming sequel Black Ops 4 will also receive maps for Black Ops 3 in their Back in Black map pack. The pack contains 4 remastered maps from Black Ops and Black Ops 2. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will be available October 12 for PC, PlayStation4, and Xbox One.

Destiny 2: Forsaken is upcoming DLC for Destiny 2 (duh?) and features new regions, new powers, new weapons, and a new raid. Forsaken will be available September 4.

A cool looking teaser for a game called Control was shown. A 3rd person action game, from Remedy and 505 Games, with what look to be psi-powers or something of the like. No release information has yet been given.

Sony teased a reimagining of Resident Evil 2. What a nice surprise! The new take has the modern over the shoulder view RE has used since Resident Evil 4, and has been re-built from the ground up. I can not wait to see more! Resident Evil 2 will be release on January 25 for PlayStation 4.

Trover Saves the Universe. I don’t know exactly what this is. It looks to be some sort of animated character action platformer made by Squanch Games and created by Justin Roiland, co-creator of Rick and Morty. The game will be exclusive to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR.

There was a Kingdom Hearts III trailer. We’ve talked about this game before. It was at other conferences too. This one has pirates in it. It will be released on January 29 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

They showed a teaser trailer for Nioh 2. No more info than that was given. Just revel in its glory.

And last but not least (I had almost gotten up and left the room…) a new game by FromSoftware was teased called Déraciné. Not much was shown about how it plays but it is a PlayStation VR exclusive and looks uniquely creepy. The release date says it is coming in 2018.
