After a few days of rumors and leaks, Blizzard Entertainment formally announced today that Diablo III is headed to Nintendo Switch. The Switch release, called Diablo III: Eternal Edition, will include both the Reaper of Souls and Rise of the Necromancer add-ons when it releases later this year.

Diablo III: Eternal Edition will support multiplayer in every configuration Switch owners can conceive of. Up to four players will be able to take on the supernatural hordes together on one Switch, locally between multiple Switches, or online. Online play will require a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.

A series of Switch-exclusive items were also revealed, all based on The Legend of Zelda series. Players will have access to a Ganondorf costume based on his appearance in Twilight Princess, a Triforce-decorated character portrait frame, and a Cucco pet in addition to some ominous purple wings called the “Echoes of the Mask”.

No specific date was given in today’s announcement outside of “2018”, though Blizzard Entertainment CEO Mike Morhaime did mention fall as a target in the reveal video.
