Publisher GungHo announced yesterday that RPG classics Grandia and Grandia II are coming to Nintendo Switch as HD remasters. IGN went a step further, reporting that the remasters will release this winter. The remastered Grandia will also be available on PC via Steam, which already hosts Grandia II. It is unclear if Grandia II on steam will receive any sort of update.
For those unfamiliar with the franchise, Grandia and Grandia II are both highly-regarded JRPGs. The original Grandia, initially released on the Sega Saturn before coming to the original PlayStation, boasts an impressive score of 89 on Metacritic. Grandia II, released on the Sega Dreamcast and PlayStation 2, won its fair share of critical praise as well. Grandia II seems to have stood the test of time, steam reviews for Grandia II Anniversary Edition currently sit at “very positive”.
