The PSP 2 is somewhat of a sure thing. Many people thought we’d see it at Gamescom but that was not the case. However, Eurogamer has broken a rumored story detailing that ‘select publishers’ have been shown the device behind closed doors in Germany. The unnamned sourced reported that the device has a touchscreen – on its back. Weird. This could make for some unique gaming experiences comparable to the iphone and DS except the screen wouldnt be covered by the players fingers.
According to three separate development sources who have seen and used the new PSP, the screen is rich and detailed but the headline feature is the way games are controlled – by a touch-sensitive area on the back of the unit behind the screen.
The sources sited also mentioned the rumored device is at least a year off if not more. What do you guys think? Also mentioned was the fact that it was a digital platform even though Kaz Hirai metioned that physical media was very important at this point in time.
