The Big Sony Gamescom 2010 Wrap up post

Posted by: 8/17/2010

Last year Sony announced the PS3 Slim along with a 299 price drop. This year might not have been as spectacular and we did not get a PSP 2 nor a mention of the Sony Playstation Phone but we got news, plenty of news.

During its presser in Cologne Sony detailed some pretty interesting stuff even if some things were quote: ‘the worst kept secrets’ ever. Insomniac announced not one but two games today. The often rumored and now confirmed Resistance 3 will release sometime in 2011 and take presumably take place on the East Coast if the Statue of Liberty in the title is any indication. The second game is Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One. It is a 4 player co-op game which will feature offline and online drop in drop out cooperative modes. The game is set to release in the Fall of 2011.

Playstation Move has also been an intricate element of today’s presentation. While two new PS3 skus have been announced, a 160 GB console for 299 increasing its HDD space by 40 GB and a 320 GB model with the Move starter kit for 399, we also found out that 256 player shooter MAG will receive the PS Move treatment. Another title to be Move supported is Virtua Tennis 4 which was announced today and will also feature 3D. It is set to release in 2011.

Killzone 3 and Infamous 2 also received new trailers which show some brutal Mech combat in Killzone and intriguing new ice gameplay footage from Cole’s latest adventure. Gran Turismo 5 finally received its European release date, it hits shelves on November 3rd.

Here is the Ratchet and Clank trailer shown on stage today.
