Next week, October 18th specifically PS3 owners can start using their PS3 Netflix Instant Streaming BluRay Disc or NISBD for short, as a coaster for a cup or as decoration in their home. The PS3 is finally getting a native application similar to the Xbox 360.
Sony stated this morning that the PS3 will be the first consumer electronics device to support 5.1 surround sound. The app will feature some movies and shows 1080i as well as subtitles and alternative audio tracks. Nice.
