EA’s Riccitiello: Battlefield 3, COD to spend 200 MM in Marketing

While we will still post this under ‘news’, it is probably not a big surprise that EA’s CEO John Riccitiello, recently speaking at an Ad Age conference, proclaimed that “a couple hundred million dollars ‘worth of’ marketing against these two products”.

He was referring to the next Call of Duty project and of course, EA’s flagship shooter for 2011, Battlefield 3.

Another interesting tidbit of the speech was that the CEO actually put DICE’s next entry into the series directly in competition against COD. Riccitiello said that Battlefield is “designed to take [Call of Duty] down”.

Having seen a live demo of the game at PAX East, I must say the game looks absolutely impressive and filled with loads of potential.
