If you have digitally purchased a PC game, chances are you have done it on Impulse, which is (was) part of Stardock.

Today GameStop announced that it has purchased Spwan Labs, creators of the console streaming box, as well as Impulse.

Impulse is a large digital distributor which allows GameStop to become competitive in the digital age as it becomes a more viable option every day.

In their official press release the retailer detailed what customers, clients and developers can expect from Impulse in the future.

* Impulse::Client – allows gamers to have instant access to a library of more than 1,100 games on day one as well as the ability to manage their game-related downloads and purchases.

* Impulse::Reactor – provides content publishers customer friendly DRM and copy protection tools. It also allows developers to enable achievements, account management, friend lists, chat, multiplayer lobbies, and cloud storage within their games.

* Impulse::Publisher – allows publishers to manage all aspects of their game with powerful real-time reporting and management tools.

While this acquisition is still in its infancy it could mean big things for GameStop’s future and establishment within the digital space.
