Today Nintendo announced that it has reached the ’50 Million Units Sold’ milestone for its most popular console. The DS, in all of its iterations, is the best selling console of all in time in the US. The number comes from the NPD group making its validity unquestionable.
In addition Nintendo revealed that the 3DS has sold over 260,000 units in the past month, which is a 10 percent increase over the prior period. The best selling 3DS title to date is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, which just passed 500K copies.
It sure is a bit telling that the 3DS needed a massive price drop in August to increase sales and that its best selling game should be in the retro category.
