At this point in the game, other online – digital only – retailers may as well pack it in. Valves digital distribution platform has reached new milestones in 2011.
Steam has managed to double its unit sales from 2010 which is no small achievement, when Valve announced that the platform grew sales by 100%, I had to re-read the press release.
Additionally Valve revealed that during the 2011 Holiday Sale, Steam’s simultaneous user number eclipsed the 5 million player mark – another massive milestone for the platform.
Along with these news, Valve also stated that it sold over 14 Million Steam-Works titles, a growth of 67%. Free to Play titles have reached to 18 with more coming in 2012.
