Weekend Gaming – 2/8/2013

Posted by: 2/8/2013

Every Friday we’ll post Weekend Gaming, which will be a summary of some of the new releases you should be paying attention to, along with games that we plan on playing this weekend.

New Releases

Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time (PS3, PS Vita) – One of the most popular franchises from the PS2 is back. You once again take control of Sly Cooper through an adventure that takes you to Feudal Japan, the Wild West, Medieval England, and other different time periods. See how well the new developer Sanzaru does with Sly Cooper. It is in stores now.

Omerta: City of Gangsters (Xbox 360, PC) – In Omerta, you play as a fresh immigrant just off the boat in 1920’s Atlantic City. Prohibition is still being enforced, and mobsters are controlling the supply of booze and money. You start your own gang to take control of Atlantic City. Developed by the guys who made Tropico 3 & 4, Omerta is a fantastic strategy game that has an interesting turn based fighting mechanic to it. It is available now.

Dead Space 3 (Xbox 360, PS3, PC) – This is the third Dead Space game featuring Issac as he continues his quest to destroy the Marker. Dead Space 3 introduces new things to the series, like a new crafting system, and co-op play. It is a bit more open to exploration than previous games, but it isn’t completely open world. Think Arkham City open world design. Dead Space 3 is available now.

Omerta – Well this one is a bit obvious since we’ll have a review up for it this weekend, both text and video. Even if I wasn’t assigned to review this game, I would definitely still be playing it this weekend. It is a very addicting game that has some really neat mechanics. Look for the review this weekend.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings – Even though it came out a year and a half ago, I’m now just starting The Witcher 2. I like the world that CD Projekt Red has created, but the game is hard. The first fight sequence took me over six tries to beat. While it is tough, I really want to get into that game.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown – This is another game that I am new to playing. It has been sitting in my Steam library for a few months, but I think it is finally time to try it out. The reason I haven’t tried it out yet is there is so many other games that I’ve been playing / wanting to play for the past few months. I’ve already got a lot on my plate with Omerta and The Witcher 2, so I may not get to XCOM, but I would really like to.

What are you playing this weekend? Leave a comment below, and stay safe all you Northeastern folk! Snowy weather is the perfect time to game!
