FIFA 14 details have been unveiled

The world’s most popular gaming franchise is getting a makeover, and fans of the series will not be disappointed. New details emerged for FIFA 14 today, with the game getting updates with shooting, possessing the ball, and career mode.

EA is introducing a feature called Pure Shot, along with brand new ball physics, to make every shot replicate the shots seen week in and week out in the real game. You’ll now see the ball travel much more realistically, including knuckle, dipping, and powerful rising shots.

Also new to the series for 14 is Protect the Ball. Plays will be able to fend off defenders while dribbling at any speed, or fight for position to receive a pass. EA has done a lot of work over the years to make FIFA feel more physical, and this will make add more to that physicality. Movement has been tweaked as well. With Spring Dribble Turns, players will be able to turn in every direction at sprint speed while preserving momentum, and Variable Dribble Touches will introduce a variety of touches on the ball while sprinting. More skilled players will have a better touch and more control while sprinting with the ball with this new feature.

The AI for both sides of the ball has been tweaked as well. Strikers will make better runs and look for space to get into. Defenders will mark better, and put pressure on all attacking players, not just the attacker with the ball. The scouting system in Career Mode is also getting an overhaul. The Global Scouting Network allows you to scout all year. Scouts can evaluate footballers from all over the globe, getting you prepared for the transfer windows.

Every year EA tries to make FIFA more realistic, and the direction they are moving in sounds positive. We’ll have more FIFA 14 info soon. In the meantime, check out the first screens released for the game below.
