It has been confirmed that Disney will be closing iconic publisher LucasArts. This is after Disney recently acquired LucasFilms and LucasArts last fall.
In a statement from Disney to Game Informer Magazine, Disney had said after evaluating their position in the gaming market, it seemed like a more viable move to close down the publishing studio.
LucasArts is famous for publishing many iconic games in the past, ranging from Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, Star Wars Battlefront, to The Secret of Monkey Island.
LucasArts had an excellent showing last E3 with the game Star Wars 1313. There are many rumors floating around the web as to the state of Star Wars 1313. It has not been confirmed to be canceled as one rumor suggests, and a representative from LucasFilms who talked to Game Informer said Star Wars 1313 could be outsourced to another developer and publisher to be finished.
It is a sad day for fans of Star Wars games, and we at onPause hope for the best for those employees laid off today.
