Nintendo will not hold a traditional E3 conference

Nintendo has announced that it will forego its normal E3 conference for smaller, direct events at E3 2013, Polygon is reporting.

In a financial results briefing held this morning, Satoru Iwata announced Nintendo’s plans for E3 2013. Instead of theĀ grandioseĀ conference that the “big three” hold every year, Nintendo will hold a closed event for distributors, and another closed, hands-on event for Western media.

Iwata also said that they will be using things like Nintendo Direct to give information to folks that can not gain access to the closed events at E3. The focus for Nintendo at E3 2013 will be letting Wii U and 3DS owners know what new software they can expect over the next year.
