It has been revealed that The Witcher 3 will not feature any always-on DRM, and that CD Projekt Red is trying to not use DRM ever again.
Game designer Maciej Szczesnik told Kotaku that if people want to pirate their games, they will find a way to do so. He also said that when they removed DRM from their games, “people on those torrents were actually asking people not to download our game, because we [weren’t using DRM].”
After the launch of SimCity and the issue of always-on DRM in the spotlight, it is interesting to see a developer come out and say that DRM is not the way to combat piracy.
The Witcher 3 is set to release in 2014 for the PC, PS4, and other next-gen consoles.
