EA ‘discontinues’ controversial Online Pass

In the past EA was including the somewhat controversial ‘Online Pass’ with all of its games which meant a new copy of an EA title would include a one time code to unlock online features.

Buying a used copy then required gamers to purchase the online pass for something like 10 Dollars.

After much thought EA has decided to discontinue its ‘Project 10 Dollar’ initiative with regards to the online monetization at least.

Starting with Insomniac developed and EA published FUSE, games from the publisher will be online pass free. Of course this means EA is probably cooking up a new strategy.
