Taken from the “no surprise” news pile, EA Sports and FIFA have extended their licensing deal to last until December 31, 2022. EA Sports released the first FIFA licensed game 20 years ago, and will be the sole developer of FIFA licensed video games for the next 10 years.
This agreement includes EA Sports releasing year iterations of the sports game, plus a FIFA World Cup branded game. In EA’s earnings call that was held yesterday, the company announced that FIFA ’13 had sold more than 14 million units.
