EA Sports has been a big part of every new launch of consoles, and EA took the stage at the unveiling of Xbox One to show off the future of sports games.

All next-gen sports games from EA will be using the Ignite engine. EA is describing the engine as a way to make sports games more alive with “players who think, move and behave like real athletes and dynamic living worlds.” The first four games using this engine is Madden NFL 25, FIFA 14, NBA Live 14, and EA Sports UFC. These games will be released in the next 12 months for next-gen consoles.

Some features of the engine include better rendering, physics, animation, intelligence, locomotion, and online systems. EA says that athletes will have human-like intelligence to make better decisions on the field or court. In addition to new features on the playing surface, crowds will now be rendered in 3D, and the sidelines will be dynamic, creating a realistic environment in the games.

“With EA Sports Ignite and the power of next generation consoles, our games will come alive—with more authenticity, more emotion, more connectivity, and more fun,” said executive vice president and head of EA Sports Andrew Wilson.

EA Sports has released a video showing off the Ignite engine and some features of it, which you can see below.
