Halo 4 best selling Microsoft Studios game in US

The latest Halo game from new developer 343 Industries is now the best selling Microsoft Studios game in the United States. Microsoft updated their Xbox Wire blog this afternoon, announcing the sales milestone. It sold more than its predecessor, Halo 3, in their respective launch years.

According to VGChartz.com, Microsoft Game Studios has sold 8.36 million units of Halo 4. VGChartz.com is not always 100% accurate, but it can put us in the ballpark of the true sales figures. The website uses publicly known sales numbers, and companies will sometimes hold back sales knowledge, or say units shipped instead of sold, and not raw sales figures. I would assume by now it is more than 8.36 million units. I would estimate the true sales number around 10 million, as the data on VGChartz.com could be outdated.

Halo 4 was released on November 6, 2012, and currently has a Metacritic score of 87. That makes it the second lowest scoring Halo game released, only ahead of Halo 3: ODST, which was sold as DLC for Halo 3Halo: Combat Evolved is the highest rated Halo game with a metacritic score of 97.

A new Halo game was announced at E3 2013, but other than a short teaser trailer, nothing else is known about the game.
