Breaking Bad meets Grand Theft Auto

Breaking Bad GTA 4

Rockstar Games and AMC are two of the best story tellers in their respective mediums. While Breaking Bad is currently the hottest ticket on TV and approaching an incredible end to its five season run, Rockstar is about to release its equally grandiose open world epic – Grand Theft Auto V.

The fact that ‘Fives’ are in the titles of both, the TV show and the game, are a simple coincidence but it got us thinking – what if Rockstar Games and AMC joined forces to create the ultimate union between one of the best Television and open world Video Games around.

Breaking Bad GTA 1

Let’s take GTA V for example, the game will feature three playable characters whose lives and actions intersect many times. Not only that but the game is set in fake Los Angeles (Los Santos) which has different areas it will take the players to, distinct parts of the town or the state even. Breaking Bad also takes Walter White and Jesse Pinkman across many distinct places and sees the duo interact with some crazy characters – nearly sounds like a GTA games, doesn’t it?

Breaking Bad GTA 3

I picture a well written and cinematic game with open world gameplay, yet featuring some distinct and mandatory story missions to progress. Walter and Jesse – both playable characters – would go about their day, cook some meth, and interact with friends and family. It’s a perfect setup for some downtime and even mini games if you’d like, only to receive the phone call that will have you race to the desert, Jesse’s house or any other location – and things to go bonkers.

Breaking Bad GTA 2

Rockstar is incredibly well versed at creating games that combine unique, nearly uncomfortable and memorable characters with stories around a location that is so distinct, that you won’t forget it. Combine this skill set with a franchise or brand like Breaking Bad and you should have yourself a pretty great backdrop.

Breaking Bad GTA 5

The gameplay could revolve around part driving, part conversation (think Mass Effect or LA Noire), part mini games like running the meth business or simply playing cards with your crew. These are just some examples I can think up.

Grand Theft Auto and Breaking Bad are two brands that, when layered on top of each other and fused into one, would have the potential for a compelling and memorable gaming experience.
