From Ron More, the executive producer of shows like Battlestar Galactica, comes a brand new original series called HELIX which will premier on Syfy on January 10th. HELIX’s premise is set as an intense thriller about a team of scientists from the CDC – Centers for Disease Control – who travel to a high-tech research facility in the Arctic to investigate a possible disease outbreak.
The problem is that they do more than find the aftermath of this outbreak, they get pulled into it. The team is now involved in a life-and-death struggle that holds the key to mankind’s salvation. The only other option is total annihilation. Picturing myself in a scenario where my team is tasked with finding out just what happened in this highly classified research facility is terrifying enough, but having to deal with the possibility of death and worse is unimaginable.
Some of the other folks involved in the show are producers of famous shows like Lost, The X-Files and the classic movie Contact. The ourbreak that the research team finds isn’t pretty, it is dangerous as well as mysterious. Being stuck with a scary and violent threat that leaves chaos in its wake is never easy to deal with as the CDC scientists quickly find out.
Billy Campbell of ‘The Killing’ fame stars as Dr. Alan Farragut, a CDC researcher. He also stared in The 4400, Once and Again, Dynasty more.
HELIX is shaping up to the one of those fascinating weekly programs you cannot wait to watch and reminds us of some of the most gripping Television from year’s past. One thing is clear – playing god will come with consequences and someone will have to pay that price.
