Today Google announced that the PlayStation 4 is their Top Trending Tech Gadget of 2013. Google’s 2013 Zeitgeist list highlights the most popular topics and trends from over one trillion searches. The PS4 was followed by the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the iPhone 5s.
The Xbox One was notably absent from the list below.
Sony noted that “in addition to being named the number one Trending Tech Gadget”, the PS4 was also the only video game system to make the Top 10 list in the ‘tech gadget category’ and was also featured as the ninth most-searched term overall this year.
“We couldn’t be happier to see that PS4 was top of mind for so many millions of people this year, beginning with our announcement in February and hitting a fever pitch recently with launches around the world,” said Guy Longworth, Senior Vice President, PlayStation Brand Marketing, Sony Computer Entertainment America. “Making it onto Google’s Zeitgeist list is no small feat, but appearing at number one is a true testament to the overwhelming interest in PS4 and the future of gaming.”
Looks like the PS4 was a big deal in 2013. Now we await Microsoft’s counter news post from Bing? All jokes aside, it is good to see that video games are on the radar as much as they are.
